BT2 – No longer produced McClelland’s Grand Oriental Series first year 2007 production 50g tin of Yenice Agonya. From McClelland’s website – “Agonya is the famous Turkish tobacco from the Sea of Marmara district of Yenice (pronounced Yenidje in Turkish) which lies to the southeast of Canakhale. This is the anciently famous area of Troy or Illium south of the Hellespont. The Hamdibey or Agonya district plants the Agonya seed, a Kabakulak variety of Xanthi origin (that first Yenidje of legend). Agonya leaves are wide, fine-textured and oval with bare stems. This blend is designed to highlight Agonya’s mellow taste and subtle fragrance. When the Greeks followed Helen to Troy, they were after booty but they were a few centuries too early to share this elegant treasure.” This now 10-year old tin sells for $20

BT2 -No longer produced McClelland’s Grand Oriental Series first year 2007 production 50g tin of Yenidje Supreme. From McClelland’s website – “Oriental tobacco cultivation began in the 1600s around the villages of Yenidje and Kirdzhali after Venetian and Genoese traders introduced tobacco smoking to the area in the 1500s. The classic Basma seed introduced there over 300 years ago is believed by some to derive from an ancient Venezuelan variety of Nicotiana Tabacum named Barinas. The very finest Xanthi still comes from the original Yenidje (Genesaia) area of Western Thrace just north of the modern town of Xanthi. It is the Xanthi-Yaka-Basma and the Xanthi-Djebel-Basma that comprise the legendary Yenidje leaf which is thin, full-bodied, flexible, with fine veins. Full of oils, the best leaves are quite small, yellow to brown in color, with a pleasant, delicate aroma and sweet, mild, fresh flavor.” I have 1 now 10-year old tin available for $20

GH2 – One of the all time greats from Mac Baren, this is an old, 2 oz tin from the 1970’s of Royal Twist De Luxe Roll Cake and even has the Martin Brothers Import sticker on the tin bottom. Someone also wrote in magic marker the date of 2001, but that had to have been the date of purchase as this tin, as mentioned above, pre-dates 2001 by a long shot. Renamed years ago Roll Cake Spun Cut, it is described by www.tobaccoreviews.com – “Whole leaves are used as wrapper for the rope and the inlay is divided into two groups. The first group contains 100% pure Virginia tobaccos, meaning that the whole leaves are used as wrapper leaves and the leaves with small imperfections are used as the inlay. The second group contains whole Virginia leaves as wrapper and Dark Fired Kentucky as inlay, meaning you see the dark tobacco in the center and the brighter Virginias around it. After the tobaccos have been spun into ropes it is stored for weeks and then cut into small coins. The blend of Dark Twist is broken down as follows. For every 2 coins of Virginia tobacco there is 1 coin with a center of Dark Fired Kentucky. Like most of our spun tobaccos, water and maple sugar are boiled and added to the tobacco. This is all we add, so the taste is very natural with the interplay between the natural sweet Virginias and light sour and smoky flavor from the Dark Fired Kentucky perfectly blended to create a natural tobacco taste. Just 1 tin available for $45
